Happy Birthday DLRP !

Zo’n 17 jaar geleden opende het toenmalige EuroDisney officieel de deuren ! Mickey verwelkomde toen tal van bekenden en velen onder ons volgenden dit gebeuren wellicht op de TV. Ondertussen is naast de naamsverandering naar Disneyland Resort Parijs en de komst van de Walt Disney Studios heel wat veranderd. Wie alles nog eens wil nalezen, kan dat op de tijdslijn van Yago’s DLPR.

Villages Nature

In 2007 hadden we het hier op Yago’s Disney Nieuws reeds over het project Villages Nature en 2009 zou wel eens beslissend kunnen zijn voor dit project dat een partnerschap is tussen Euro Disney SCA en de groep Pierre et Vacances. Op 13 februari 2007 werd een intentieverklaring ondertekend door beide partijen. Philippe Gas, de grote baas van Euro Disney, is een vurig voorstander van het project maar is uiteraard niet de enige die hierover beslissingsrecht heeft. Villages Nature zou de tweede grootste toeristische trekpleister van Ile de France moeten worden sinds de opening van Disneyland Resort Parijs in 1992. Les Villages Nature is een groot project dat over verschillende jaren zal uitgebouwd worden en het zou op termijn aan zo’n 9000 mensen een job kunnen bieden.

Het project wil vooral het ecotoerisme stimuleren. Ecotoerisme is genieten van vakantie in een omgeving waar mens en natuur in harmonie kunnen leven. De eerste fase van het project was aangekondigd voor 2010 en is het nog onduidelijk of deze datum gehandhaafd blijft.

Ondertussen is een nieuw concept-art op het intern verschenen en merken we dat de kunstmatige berg met zijn verwarmde lagune plaats heeft moeten ruimen voor een traditionele waterplas.

Euro Disney nog eens veroordeeld

Twintig à dertig minuten dat is de tijd die castmembers van Disneyland Resort Parijs elke dag nodig hebben om hun werkkleding terug naar de vestaire van het bedrijf te brengen. Ondanks het feit dat deze verplaatsing zich binnen het bedrijf afspeelt, betaalde Disney deze tot april 2007 niet. Een rechtbank heeft Disney nu veroordeelt tot het betalen van deze verplaatsingen en de werknemers kunnen deze vergoeding voor 5 jaar terug vragen.

Voor de 147 dossiers die reeds behandeld zijn, moest Disney ongeveer een € 250.000 ophoesten maar dat bedrag zal nog oplopen want zo’n 2000 à 3000 werknemers kunnen nog een claim indienen wat het bedrag op zo’n 2 à 6 miljoen euro kan brengen.

Disney vraag tijd om het vonnis te analyseren.

De eerste werkdag

Zoals we hier reeds schreven, staat vanaf vandaag de 44-jarige Fransman Philippe Gas aan het hoofd van Eurodisney SA. Hij volgt er Karl Holz op die vanaf vandaag President New Vacation Operations Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is.

Philippe Gas is reeds 17 jaar bij Disney aan de slag. Een jaar voor de opening van het park, was hij reeds werkzaam op de financiële dienst van Disneyland Resort Paris. Vanaf 1997 was hij vooral actief als directielid in de personeelsafdeling en dat in zowel Parijs, Californië, Tokyo als Hong Kong. Hij was o.a. Senior Vice President Human Resources voor Disneyland Resort Paris en Senior Vice President International Cast Members in Amerika. Philippe Gas was reeds enkele maanden naast Karl Holz aan het werk, zodat hij niet onvoorbereid aan zijn nieuwe functie moet beginnen.

Disney en Orange

Orange Business Services zal de telefooninfrastructuur van Disneyland Resort Parijs vernieuwen.

Orange Business Services kondigt de ondertekening van een contract met Euro Disney Associes S.C.A, de exploitant van Disneyland Resort Paris aan. Het contract bevat onder andere de voorwaarde dat Orange Business Services verantwoordelijk is voor het vervangen van de gehele PABX-infrastructuur, wat neerkomt op een totaal van 15.000 telefoonlijnen. Het contract houdt ook in dat een team gedurende 6 jaar verantwoordelijk zal zijn voor de financiering, de integratie, de exploitatie en het onderhoud van de infrastructuur.

Deze nieuwe overeenkomst komt voort uit de reeds bestaande band tussen de twee bedrijven. Oranje is reeds sinds 1992 één van de partners van Euro Disney Associes S.C.A.

Personeelswissel

Vanaf 1 september 2008 krijgt Karl Holz, nu nog president van Eurodisney SA, een nieuwe functie. Hij wordt vanaf dan President New Vacation Operations Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Zijn opvolger bij Eurodisney SA is Philippe Gas. De 44-jarige PhilippeGas was reeds gedurende de eerste 6 jaar van Disneyland Resort Parijs tewerkgesteld in Parijs maar is dan verhuisd naar het Disneyhoofdkantoor in Burbank.Wat de reden van deze wissel is, is nog niet duidelijk.

PHILIPPE GAS TO ASSUME TOP DUTIES AT EURO DISNEY

Marne-la-Vallée, April 11, 2008 – Euro Disney S.C.A. today announced the nomination of Philippe Gas to the position of Président of Euro Disney S.A.S., the management company of Euro Disney S.C.A. and Euro Disney Associés S.C.A., the operator of Disneyland® Resort Paris. Philippe will take over the responsibilities of Karl Holz who has been appointed President, New Vacation Operations, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

James A. Philippe’s appointment will be effective on September 1, 2008. He will transition into this new role over the summer, working closely with Karl to ensure continued commitment to the Company’s long term strategic priorities : driving results towards profitability ; providing a high-quality guest experience ; and developing our cast members.

Philippe Gas, 44 and a 17-year Disney veteran, has extensive experience with both Euro Disney and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts worldwide. After having completed his master of law from the University of Paris Assas, he joined the Disney organization in 1991 as Finance Controller and was a member of the opening team at Disneyland Resort Paris. Over the next six years, he held a variety of positions at the Resort. In 1997, he was promoted to Director, Corporate Compensation and moved to The Walt Disney Company headquarters in Burbank, California. In 2000, he served as Regional Vice President, Human Resources, The Walt Disney Company Asia-Pacific, overseeing the HR strategy in 13 countries in Asia – first based in Tokyo and then in Hong Kong. In 2004, he returned to Disneyland Resort Paris as Senior Vice President, Human Resources, where he was responsible for all HR Operations for its more than 12,300 cast members. In 2005 he was appointed Senior Vice President, International Human Resources, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and in 2006, he was promoted to his current position as Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts worldwide. In this role, he is responsible for the Human Resources strategy and services for nearly 100,000 Cast Members.
