Julie created another great sketch challenge for you this month. We are excited to see what you do with it, so make sure to link up to our next link party at the end of the month.
Here is the layout she based the sketch on. She didn't use a ton of embellishments but cut and layered papers instead. This creates interest and dimension without taking away from the photos.

Although Julie used the Couture collection for this layout, it isn't too feminine at all. She did this by choosing patterned papers that work great for either gender. She created a great color combo by accenting the neutral gray papers with splashes of green.
Thanks, Julie. Happy weekend everyone!

Thanks to everyone who linked to the link party last month! Remember, this is a monthly tradition. At the end of the month, you can link any project you create that includes an SEI product. Sometimes there is a giveaway too. This is also the perfect time to share the layout you create for our sketch challenge.
Are you ready for another challenge? Julie created this layout sketch for our April challenge. So, to participate in this month's challenge, simply design a layout based on this sketch. Be sure to use at least one SEI product and link up at the end of the month.
This lovely layout is the one Julie based her sketch off. The 10.75 x 6 inch photo has a big impact, but you could also use the same grid with multiple photos in this spot.
Ready for the winner of our link party giveaway? As usual, we used random.org's random integer generator to pick... number 6!
Congratulations, Ann Jobes! Now just send us your e-mail to seiblog{at}shopsei{dot}com and we will get you your gift card.

The title of this layout, "Happy Go Lucky" fits this photo and the Corinne collection so well. It is quite a diverse collection. Although there are flowers and rainbows, it still works great for boys!
Julie is great at utilizing her embellishments. For the clouds and strip of pinwheels, she simply cut the borders the length she needed them. She also layered journaling tags and frames under her photo.
Sometimes we may feel like we have to use the entire embellishment as intended. It's ok to cut, overlap, and make them work for you, even if it's not the "right" way to use them.

Thanks everyone who participated in last month's challenge. There were a lot of great layouts shared on the link party! Before we announce the winner we wanted to share this month's sketch challenge, created by Julie Bonner.
If you decide to participate in the challenge, be sure to use at least one SEI product and link your layout up to our link party at the end of the month. Everyone participating in the link party will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card for shopsei.com!
This is the layout Julie based the sketch off of, using the Corinne collection. Notice that she mimicked the horizon line in the photo with the white space on top. The circles at the top resemble clouds. We love how well thought-out Julie's layouts are.
The winner of the February Challenge giveaway, as selected by random.org is... CAUGHT IN THE LINT TRAP. Congratulations! Please send us your full name and e-mail address to seiblog{at}shopsei{dot}com.

Julie seems to capture how she felt holding her newborn in this sweet layout. She did a wonderful job showing how the With All My Heart collection doesn't just have to be for Valentines.
The repeated rows of hearts make such an impact! They are beautifully constructed with a scalloped edge attached to the layout, stitched line through the center, and edges gently folded up. Julie shows us that you don't have to own a box full of embellishments to make a lovely layout.

Isn't this photo one of the sweetest you have ever seen? Julie was lucky to catch this tender moment with her camera.
There are so many good things going on here it's hard to know where to begin! How about the heartstrings paper behind the photo to accent the sepia tones and the little heart accent on top?
What about the title with stickers layered under and a few more heart accents or the scallop?
Maybe the little grouping of accents? We can't decide what our favorite thing about this layout is. Help us out. What's yours?
If this layout looks fimiliar, it's because it is the layout Julie designed for this month's sketch. Remember if you participate in the challenge and link up at the end of the month, you could win a $25 gift certificate to www.shopsei.com. Details here.

Julie's son is a big brother now! To get ready she decided to scrapbook him reading a book about becoming a big brother.
Mostly she used the Monsterville collection for this layout. She also snuck in a few of the green Kris Kringle elements here and there.
If you own a cutting machine, like Julie, take advantage of your ability to create custom shapes and titles. Then you don't need to purchase as many embellishments.
The doodled borders add a nice finishing touch. This technique would also be great for someone who doesn't own a sewing machine but wants to create a similar effect.
Congratulations, Julie!

Julie created this layout using the Kris Kringle collection. She is great at creating many completely unique looks from the same collection. Remember these other Kris Kringle layouts?
Notice that her photos are muted just a little to coordinate with the papers and winter theme? Here are some more details...
Julie was so kind to create this beautiful sketch for you. So, we thought we'd start the new year out with a challenge.
To participate, all you need to do is create a layout using this sketch as your guide sometime this month (be sure to sneak in a little SEI product -- it makes us happy). Then, at the end of the month, link your final creation up to our link party.
On the 7th day of Christmas, Julie gave to us, a super sweet spool tree!
Here's Julie's tree making advice:"I created the altered wood tree by painting raw wood spools with green paint and then spritzing them with some gold mist. Next I covered the body of the spools with a variety of green patterned papers from SEI's Kris Kringle line. I attached them to one another in rows of 4, 3, 2, and finally 1 spool to resemble a tree type pattern. Finally I covered a wood star with patterned paper and a few hand-cut, pop-dotted, patterned paper elements and attached this to the top spool. The spool tree is an easy, fun home decor project that will look great amongst your holiday decorations!!!" We want to give them away to our craftiest friends, too! Thanks Julie! On the 8th day of Christmas SEI gave you a free printable download to help spread the joy!
With three different sizes, we think you'll find many uses for this cheerful holiday greeting. Trying cutting the 4x6 into a card for starters!

It's time to show you the beautiful layouts Julie Bonner has been creating. If you want to know more about Julie, stop by her blog Starting Now... Also, all of our design team member's intros are here, in case you missed them.
First off, here's her 'Enjoying Autumn' layout:
Isn't it great that she fit six photos on this layout, yet it doesn't feel too busy? One reason we think she pulled it off so well is she made her title the main focus of the page.
Speaking of the title, Julie said, "The close-up shot on this fall layout highlights the title tag I created. To create the word "Autumn", I used my Slice and cut this word from some of the patterned paper in the collection. I also layered up some of the adorable die-cuts :)"
Next, here's her 'Promise' layout:
Here's what Julie says about it, "I had lots of fun with the stitching on this!!! The stars were die-cut from my Slice and they were adhered down to the layout only by the stitching. This allowed me to then later fold them in half & create some fun dimension to the top half of the page :)"
Aren't these star details a great way to add dimension?
So many beautiful details! Can you choose a favorite element?
