Mothers and Daughters Layout

H
ello, we are in the second day of our week long Mother’s day inspired project share. And today I’ve decided to pay tribute to the Mothers and Daughters in my family.

We all have mothers and daughters (that soon will be mothers themselves) so why not pay tribute to them.

In this page, I’m photographed with my mom and my sister in law. I also have two sisters and although I love them dearly, they were not photographed at this time. I’m sure there will be another photo opportunity with them in the future plus a layout for them too. :)

I added the lace cardstock behind some pattern paper here. I love how it gives that elegant border around my page. To make the most of this lace cardstock, I had cut the inside of it since only the edges will show on the page. This gives me the chance to use the lace on other projects that you will see in later posts.

I’m so in love with the Couture line. The soft colors and elegant designs are perfect for feminine layouts. I used my die cut machine here to create the layered flowers. If you read my tutorial yesterday, I pretty much did the same treatment with the paper flowers in the frame as I did here. The only difference is, I used some pretty pearl brads that is in the White Elegance embellishment line.

I also added some swirl stickers that is part of the Couture line. The swirl stickers weren’t long enough to go around my flowers so I cut them in half and stuck the cut up edges underneath the flowers. This way, I was able to extend them without making it obvious to the viewer.

I also pleated some paper to create my subtle and soft border. For my journaling I wrote about how lucky I feel to be surrounded with strong feminine examples in my family. What special things do you share with your mother, sister or friends? Make sure you document those special relationships in a layout soon.

See you tomorrow.

Breakfast in Bed...?

Mother's Day is coming up... yay! It's such a beautiful day to thank our Mother's for the sacrifices they have made for us. No mother's perfect but I think they're pretty close. Not to mention that they have the most important jobs in the universe, really. I know most of you readers are mama's and so here are some recipe ideas you could print out and leave around the house. Maybe the kiddies and husband will pick up the hint and make these breakfast ideas that don't take all morning. Here are some Mother's Day recipes I found on the Food Network.
The Deep-Dish Ham Quiche is for the savory taste budded viewer. Then for the sweet toothed viewer, I thought this Strawberry Rhubarb Tart looked divine (minus the rhubarb, for me). Whatever it is that you get for breakfast, it's made with love!

These gift bags are super easy. You can use this idea and make it the perfect size to fit your gift. Mandi came up with the clever card idea. You just cut along the edge of the flowers to make a fun shape, fold it in thirds, then add your rub-on.

I love the way Pia cut out the scroll on this layout and wove it around the photo.

These cards are simple but elegant. You could add a pocket inside to hold a gift card.

Mandi came up with these cute goodie bags and coupon book. She wrote the coupons on tags from the Morning Meadow tag sheet.

These projects are really fun and unique. The card has a poem written on the tag.

Don't forget Mother's Day is May 10th!

**Due to requests here are some instructions for the gift bags:
• The large bag has two templates. One for thebottom & one for the sides.
• The template for thesmall bag can be made out of 1 piece of paper.

Hope this helps!

sei digital

Have you ever tried digital scrapbooking? If you want a quick solution to showcase your photos, you should give it a try. We want to give you a chance to test it out for free! You can create this digital layout at no charge by clicking on this link. We just added some new items to our trial downloads section. After you enter your basic information (you don't need a credit card number since it is free) the file will be sent to your e-mail.

You might be surprised to know how many different options are available for digital scrapbookers. For example, some people like to create a digital layout, print it out, add some 3-D embellishments & slip it into a sheet protector. Others use digital scrapbooking to showcase layouts on-line.

Above is what I did with the free trial download. It is amazing how much you can personalize digital layouts. One reason I love digital scrapbooking is I know the layouts are going to look good before I spend hours designing and sometimes wasting supplies. Don't forget to check out sei digital.

We love to hear from you. What do you like about digital scrapbooking? Do you have any tips for those who are new to digital scrapbooking? Do you have any great Mother's Day or digital ideas?
