Oscars 2008

De nominaties voor de 81st Academy Awards® werden dinsdagmorgen bekend gemaakt door de Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis en acteur en Oscarwinnaar Forest Whitaker die tevens lid is van de Academy. De Oscars worden zondag 22 februari 2009 uitgereikt in het Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center en is in meer dan 200 landen live te volgen via televisie.

Monsters Inc. ride

Het lijkt er sterk op dat Pete Docter en de mensen van Pixar druk bezig zijn met een aantal Monsters Inc. projecten. Peter Docter zei op MTV dat ze wel een paar ideeën hebben.

Momenteel wordt het team en de middelen ingezet om de komende Monsters Inc.ride in de Walt Disney Resorts te realiseren. Zo is er sprake om een Monsters Inc. achtbaan in de Disney's Hollywood Studios te bouwen in de nabije toekomst. Er was reeds een preview-video met de voorstelling van deze attractie op een website geplaatst maar deze is nu niet meer te vinden. Volgens sommigen zal het niet meer zo lang duren vooraleer er een officiële aankondiging van het project komt.

Ratatouille is het winnende recept

We hadden het hier al over de 13 nominaties die Ratatouille kreeg voor de Annie Awards en de gastronomisch rat liep dan ook daadwerkelijk met de meeste brokjes kaas weg op de 35ste viering van de Annie Awards (de oscars voor de animatiefilm). Ratatouille kreeg maar liefst 9 awards. De Annie Awards werden op 8 februari 2008 uitgereikt in UCLA's Royce Hall.

"Ratatouille", een Disney-Pixarfilm over een rat die een chef-kok wil worden, kreeg een award in de categorie “Best Animated Feature” en haalde dit van Bee Movie, Surf's Up, Persepolis en The Simpsons Movie . Ratatouille werd ook winnaar in de categorie : writing and directing (Brad Bird), best voice acting (Ian Holm), best character animation, music, storyboarding, and production design.

Sally in Nieuw-Zeeland

In Auckland (Nieuw-Zeeland) is Sally uit de gelijkname Pixar animatiefilm Cars aangekomen. De autoconstructeur Porsche heeft een grote promotiecampagne opgezet om de Nieuw-Zeelanders warm te maken voor haar gamma en Sally Carrera is daar het ideale uithangbord voor. Sally is een Porsche Carrera en ze doorkruist, weliswaar niet zo snel als haar filmpersonage, door heel Nieuw-Zeeland. De kinderen kunnen samen met de echte Sally op de foto. Voor de Belgen is het wel jammer dat Sally in Nieuw-Zeeland is en dus niet aanwezig zal zijn op het autosalon in Brussel dit jaar.
